Singleplayer
Raises your armour level by 100 with a maximum of 100 when you are a marine and 125 when your are part Strogg. Assuming enough armour it will reduce damage by two thirds with the remaining third being taken from your health.

A high pitched beeping sound when hitting an enemy player means they still have armour, a low pitch beeping sounds means they have no armour.
