UpsetChaps Quake3 Guide - Can I have Multiple Versions of Quake3 Installed?

1) Install the point release to a temporary directory other than Quake3

2) Navigate to the temporary directory and rename Quake3.exe to Quake3_xxx.exe, rename baseq3 to baseq3_xxx. Replace xxx with the point release version number.

3) Copy Quake3_xxx.exe and the baseq3_xxx directory created in Step 2 to your usual Quake3 folder. Replace xxx with the point release version number.

4) Create a shortcut or batch file for Quake3_xxx.exe that adds +set fs_game "baseq3_xxx" to the command line so that games are launched using the relevant point release files. Replace xxx with the point release version number.

5) When you play on Quake3 servers that require a certain point release, launch using the relevant shortcut or batch file for Quake3.exe that has the correct +set fs_game "baseq3_xxx" appended to command line.

Example, if you have installed 1.17 and followed the steps you will have a Quake3_117.exe, a baseq3_117 folder and a shortcut or batch file that launches Quake3_117.exe +set fs_game "baseq3_117".
