Frequently Asked Questions
How do I watch older demos with latest point releases?

See the Multiple Point Release Install FAQ if you are running Quake3 versions 1.29 or above. When you wish to watch demos created on an older version of Quake3 simply launch the shortcut or batch file for Quake3_xxx.exe that has the +set fs_game "baseq3_xxx" appended to command line ( Example, Quake3_117.exe +set fs_game "baseq3_117").

If you wish to watch 1.17 demos in Quake3 1.27x then convert them using a thirdparty utility such as Striders Demo Converter

Quake3 1.30 demos can be played back in 1.31 if you rename the extension from dm_66 to dm_67. Example, if your demo is called match1.dm_66 then rename it to match1.dm_67

Note that point release 1.32 allows playback of 1.30, 1.31 and 1.32 demos without having to rename the file extension
