Heads Up Display (HUD)

Your heads up display (HUD) is made of of a number of components that help you to keep track of vital information such as the items you are carrying, your health and armour status, your location and the status of your weapons.

PDA/Video Disk Indicator, when you pick up a new PDA or video disk, icons will appear here. Press your PDA key (default TAB) to view your PDA and examine the new information.

Armour, displays how much armour you currently have. When you are shot or damaged, some of the impact is absorbed by the armour you wear. Picking up armour or armour shards increases your armour.

Health, displays how much health you currently have. When you are shot or damaged, some your health will be reduced. Picking up health packs or using health stations increases your health.

Stamina, the orange bar indicates how much stamina you have left. As you run your stamina decreases. If your stamina is completely depleted, you will not be able to run. Stop running to slowly restore your stamina.

Current location, as you walk through the UAC facility on Mars, this indicates your location.

Ammunition,  the amount of ammunition in your current weapon. Reload (default key R) to use some of your reserve ammunition. This indicator is either on the weapon or in the lower-right corner as indicated by the number 6.

Weapons, the blue dots indicate which weapons you are carrying.

Ammunition held, the amount of additional ammo you’re carrying for the selected weapon. Reloading depletes this reserve. This indicator is either on the weapon, or in the lower-right corner (as depicted here).

Crosshair/Reticle/Cursor, your reticle generally assists in aiming. However, as you approach other UAC personnel, your weapon lowers and your reticle indicates that you can talk to the person. Their name appears next to the reticle. When you approach a computer panel or other graphical interface, your weapon lowers and your reticle becomes a mouse pointer you can use to interact with the information on-screen.
